We started with a notebook.

In Greece, every corner shop owner kept a τεφτέρι — a small, worn ledger where every transaction was written by hand. It wasn't fancy. It wasn't digital. But it worked. That little book gave people something powerful: clarity about where their money went.

We're Dionysis, Marios, and Alex — three friends from Athens who spent too many years watching smart people make avoidable financial mistakes. Not because they didn't earn enough, but because they never had a clear picture of their own money.

Dionysis comes from engineering. Marios from economics. Alex from both — he couldn't pick one, so he picked both. Between us, we've built systems, analyzed markets, and argued about the right way to split a dinner bill more times than we'd like to admit.

"We built Tefteri because the tools that existed didn't feel right."

Most finance apps want your bank credentials. They want to sync, aggregate, sell insights to third parties, and show you ads for credit cards you don't need. We wanted the opposite — something private, something local, something that feels like it belongs to you.

So we built an app inspired by that old Greek ledger. No bank connections. No data leaving your device. No complexity for complexity's sake. Just a clean, honest view of your income, your expenses, and where your money actually goes.

What we believe

Financial clarity shouldn't require a finance degree. It shouldn't require trusting a corporation with your banking data. And it definitely shouldn't feel like homework.

We think everyone — not just spreadsheet enthusiasts or finance professionals — deserves to feel in control of their money. Not stressed about it. Not confused by it. Just... aware.

That awareness changes everything. It's the difference between wondering where your salary went and knowing exactly what happened. Between hoping you can afford something and being certain.

The old ledger, rebuilt

Tefteri is our version of the τεφτέρι — rebuilt for the phone in your pocket.

We're a small team. We don't have a Silicon Valley office or venture capital millions. We have a group chat, strong opinions about UI design, and a genuine belief that managing your money well shouldn't be complicated.

We're building this from Athens, for everyone.
